I wish to recognize and honor these lands where I am working as being the homelands of the Nuwu, Southern Paiute Peoples.
I feel gratitude and honor for the land itself and for the Paiute Tribe – who have been its indigenous stewards, storytellers and historymakers for generations and generations.
Thank you for stewarding these lands.
I acknowledge, know in my heart and have seen in my lineage that settler colonization has resulted in land seizure, disease, subjugation, slavery, relocation, broken promises, genocide, and multigenerational trauma.
I wish and work towards a reclamation of sovereignty to all colonized hearts and minds.
I wish and work towards landback by elevating the stories, culture, and community of the original inhabitants of Las Vegas Valley. The power of landback will achieve collective liberation, which is the resonance and hope that I move with in my work. Thank you creator, thank you mother earth, thank you to the heart that is reading this and listening.
